Khalil is founder of the first free market think tank of Pakistan, Alternate Solutions Institute (www.ASInstitute.org). He is a prolific writer and his books include, Charter of Liberty (English – 2007); The Rise of State Aristocracy in Pakistan (Urdu – 2012); Political Parties Or Political Arrangements: A Philosophical Critique of Pakistani Politics (Urdu – 2012); Pakistani Armageddon: Analysis, Resolution and the Way Forward (Urdu – 2014); Pakistan’s Democratic Impasse: Analysis and the Way Forward (English – 2014).
Khalil holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and has taught at various colleges and universities for several years. He is currently devoted to political economy and political philosophy. In the morning departure to Kruja medieval town, located on the slope of a mountain. An old bazaar leads you up to the castle of the National Hero Skanderbeg. Visit in the castle of the city, housing the Skanderbeg Museum and the Ethnographic museum.
After Kruja, depart to the city of Shkodra. In almost two hours we will be in Shkodra city. The group will have a sightseeing of Shkodra city, visit the ancient Castle of Rozafa , which is near Shkodra Lake. Time for lunch. Travel back to Tirana.
is a town in north central Albania. The museums of Krujë include the Skanderbeg museum and the national ethnographic museum. The Skanderbeg museum, founded in 1982, was built in the environs of the Krujë castle. Its collection includes mostly 15th century artifacts related to the Albanian-Ottoman wars, during which the castle was besieged four times by the Ottoman army. The national ethnographic museum of Krujë was founded in 1989 and is located in a 15–6 room villa of the Toptani family built in 1764. The main exhibits of the museum are objects of artisanship, whose age varies from 60 to 500 years.
is a city in northwestern Albania in the District of Shkodër, of which it is the capital. It is one of the oldest and most historic places in Albania, as well as an important cultural and economic centre. Rozafa castle (Albanian: Kalaja e Rozafës/Kalaja e Rozafatit) is a castle near the city of Shkodër, in northwestern Albania. It rises imposingly on a rocky hill, 130 metres above sea level, surrounded by the Bojana and Drin rivers. Shkodër is the capital of the District of Shkodër, and is one of Albania’s oldest and most historic towns, as well as an important cultural and economic centre.
After breakfast travel towards the city of Berat. While you approach the centre of the city, the typical buildings impress you. Visit to the castle, built up on a rocky hill 260m above the sea level. Churches here have survived within its powerful stony walls. With interest, is the church, which preserves wooden-engraved iconostasis, housing the “Onufri” museum. Visit to the other objects: Lead Mosque, Bachelor’s Mosque, Gorica Bridge and many dwelling houses of the 18th and 19th centuries. Time for lunch.
After lunch departure to Apollonia, located 12km from Fier. It is one of the most well known archeological sites in the country. Visit the amphitheatre, and the courtyard of the Monastery where there is a Byzantine style church built in the 14th century. Here you can see some monuments like the Encircling Wall, the Monument of Agonotheteve, Odeon, Portico, the Mosaics House, Fontana, and the church of Saints Mary. Travel back to Tirana for dinner and overnight.
is a town located in south-central Albania and the capital of both the District of Berat and the larger County of Berat. As of 2009, the town has an estimated population of around 71,000 people. In July 2008, the old town (Mangalem district) was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Berat Castle is built on a rocky hill on the right bank of the river Osum and is accessible only from the south. The main entrance, on the north side, is defended by a fortified courtyard and there are three smaller entrances. The fortress of Berat in its present state, even though considerably damaged, remains a magnificent sight. The surface that it encompasses made it possible to house a considerable portion of the town’s inhabitants. The buildings inside the fortress were built during the 13th century and because of their characteristic architecture are preserved as cultural monuments.
was established in the 7th century B.C., by Greek settlers from Corinth and Corcyra, the ancient city is located 11 km to the west of the modern city of Fier. Archaeological excavations have revealed that Apollonia achieved its zenith in the 4th – 3rd centuries B.C. The city had a 4 km long surrounding wall. It has been ￼estimated that during the developed stages of the city, 60000 inhabitants lived inside its imposing walls. Among the most interesting monuments worth visiting are the Bouleterion (city council), the library, the triumphal arch, the temple of Artemis, the Odeon built in the 2nd century B.C., the two-storey 77 mlongStoa, a theater with a capacity of 10000 spectators, and the Nymphaeum, a monumental water fountain. The statues and objects are displayed in the museum, which is housed in the monastery. Monastery courtyard is enclosed a Byzantine church dating back to the 14th century.
In the morning trip to the ancient city of Durres, that is also the most important seaport in Albania. Visit the Amphitheatre, the biggest in the Balkan Peninsula (capacity 15.000 spectators) with a rare wall mosaic, which belongs to the 2nd century A.D, the Archeological Museum, many mosaics, ancient public baths, etc. Travel back to Tirana, where we will take the Cable Car to the National Park of Dajti Mountain. There we will spent some free time enjoying the fresh air and spectacular views that this mountain will offer to us. Lunch in Tirana.
Then we will come back to Tirana where we will have a sightseeing tour of Tirana, starting from the Skanderbeg square. Visit in the National History Museum, E`them Bey Mosque, Clock Tower etc. Then continue to the main boulevard where are found the different ministries, Academy of Fine Arts, Main University etc.
is the second largest city of Albania located on the central Albanian coast, about 33 km (21 mi) west of the capital Tirana. It is one of the most ancient and economically significant cities of Albania. Some important buildings in Durrës include the main library, the cultural center with the Aleksandër Moisiu Theatre, the Estrada Theater,the puppet theater, and the philharmonic orchestra.
There are also several museums such as the Durrës Archaeological Museum, Royal Villa of Durrës and the Museum of History (the house of Aleksandër Moisiu). The city hosts the Durrës Ancient City Wall also called Durrës Castle while the largest amphitheatre in the Balkans is located in the city close to the harbour. The first-century construction is currently under consideration for inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Durres city is at the seaside and has a long beautiful beach along the Adriatic Sea.
