This recently released German film is based on the now famous "Stanford Experiment" conducted in 1971 at Stanford University, in which students were asked to role-play as prisoners and prison guards. The students empowered to be "guards" soon became so sadistic and abusive that the experiment was cut short. (09/30/02)
