December 24, 2031. Sitting here among the soaring jewel-colored towers of New Jefferson, it hard to realize that it's been just fifteen years since the end of the Second American Revolution.

     The tremendous progress we've achieved in this short period as a free society – and increasingly, as a free earth – seem more like the accomplishments of a century.

     First and foremost, the world is at peace. To be sure, there's still some conflict and violence, here and there, now and then. But it is now the rare exception rather than the rule. In an increasingly rich world, war is just plain bad for business. Even the terrible limited-nuclear exchanges of the War to End Terrorism, which destroyed Washington, D.C. and the federal government, are rapidly fading bad dreams.

     Certainly, it was touch-and-go-for a while at the end or War, and we briefly hovered on the brink of Armageddon. But once the people finally woke up and military units started refusing to fight en-masse on both sides, we knew the human race would survive.

     The chaos the followed the War and the collapse of the federal government was also terrible, but it was also very short-lived. It's incredible how much people were able to accomplish so quickly without confiscatory taxes, stifling bureaucracy and a warfare state that consumed over 70% of our resources and 90% of our scientific brainpower.

     Second, America and the world are now ever-richer. It took me just two year's work to earn enough to buy my last home, and most people now earn enough to buy a good car in a a matter of months – thanks to the Nano-Tech Industrial Revolution which is now spreading across the earth. My doctors even tell that my new bio-implants will keep me healthy and spry well past 110.

     Again you can thank peace and freedom. All of the millions of brilliant minds who spent their time building weapons of mass destruction throughout the late 20th Century and early 21st, are now creating new ways to build cars, houses, extend our lives, and make our lives wealthier and more fulfilling.

     Just looking at New Jefferson with its gleaming towers, lush parks, skycars, and glowing people makes me happy to be alive.

     Most of all we are free. Without a tyrannical government telling us what to eat, think and do, we are free to explore our humanity and all of the positive possibilities of human existence.

     People often ask me how I account for mankind finally waking up and pulling us back from the brink of global destruction and tyranny that seemed inevitable just 20 years ago.

     My answer is simple: The power of truth. Most people back then weren't evil, just ignorant. They didn't realize that the welfare state and continual warfare were making them poor. They didn't realize that over 70% of their income was being consumed in one form or another by government. They didn't realize that the crusade that the government claimed was making them safe was destroying both their safety and freedom. Most of all they didn't realize that America had new enemies everywhere not because of what we believed but what our government did.

     When the advocates of liberty finally got their act together and saturated society with streaming video documenting truth about the War and the hopelessly corrupt political system, and people finally refused to continue to support these evils, the days of that archaic system were numbered. Rational self-interest and peoples' innate humanity did the rest, giving us the new golden age we have today.

     Well it's time for me to go. I have big plans for this holiday weekend – dinner with my family and friends, dancing, and quick skycar trip to Europe. At 90 I feel like a teenager again.

     What of the future? Just remember: In liberty and peace all things are possible.
